Holiday Greetings from the Board

Dear Friends,

This Holiday Season, in keeping with tradition, we will gather with family and friends to acknowledge and celebrate those things for which we are most grateful. Even in challenging economic times there is much for which we will give thanks, starting with a hearty meal.

While many will enjoy a bountiful Holiday dinner, this is not the case for all families. Some will have to scrape just to put a modest meal on the table and others will go without food. Still worse, there will be those who have nothing to eat and are without shelter – homeless.

helping-elderlyDuring this Holiday Season, each of us can do a little to help a lot of people in a big way. Marie Wilkinson, who is known as the matriarch of Aurora, set the example more than 50 years ago when she started organizing food and clothing drives for migrant workers. Since 1959 The Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry has put food on the table for its clients in need. Each year, the Pantry supplements the nutritional needs for over 5,000 under-served families and individuals in the Aurora area.

Please join us in carrying on Marie’s dream of making sure anyone who comes to the Pantry is not turned away. Your support of $25, $50 or $100 will ensure that the shelves are stocked and people are served. Every dollar received buys $5 dollars worth of groceries so each contribution – no amount is too small – goes a long way toward feeding families. Our goal, this year, is to provide enough food for all those who seek our help!

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers of the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry, thank you in advance for considering us this year. Happy Holidays and may God bless you and yours.

Sincerely,

Brian K. Dolan and Theodia Gillespie
