Spring is just around the corner and all of us here at the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry are excited to continue making a difference in our community and in the lives of our hungry neighbors!
Marie’s pantry programs continue to help families make healthier choices by providing more nutritious food, including fresh produce, than ever before. The Food Rescue program is growing tremendously, which is wonderful for saving fresh produce, dairy and deli from being wasted in landfills.
Of course, with more Food Rescue trips to grocery stores, comes the need for more volunteers to help sort through the recovered food and prepare it for distribution to pantry guests. Funds are also needed to support transportation and vehicle maintenance costs.
How will Marie’s Pantry volunteers accomplish 37 food rescue trips a week? Simply by doing what we have always done: working together with you, your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. What you do matters to us and to those who need our help.
March is National Nutrition Month! There’s no better time to talk about the positive impact of a nutritious diet, especially for someone like Angie. Angie is a guest to the pantry who is struggling with managing a health crisis and in need of fresh fruits and vegetables. Marie’s volunteers are thrilled to help her by providing plentiful, nutritious produce.
Whether you Volunteer, Donate, or Get Involved, your contribution helps neighbors like Jackson – a single father who has faced tough choices over the past year due to mounting medical bills.
So whether it’s a couple hours of time, a donation, or just sharing the news of the good work that we’re accomplishing together, we can make a difference!
We’ve achieved great things together in 2018, and look so forward to 2019!
Warmly and With Gratitude!!
